  • What is a cross-connection backflow preventer?

    The basic means of preventing backflow is an air gap, which either eliminates a cross-connection or provides a barrier to backflow. The basic mechanism for preventing backflow is a mechanical backflow preventer, which provides a physical barrier to backflow.

  • Why is my water bill so high?

    An increase in your water bill may be due to a crack in the main water line, leaking water into the ground. This can be caused by many factors.

  • What are the two causes of backflow through a cross-connection?

    Backflow occurs for one of two reasons: back siphonage or back pressure. 


    Back siphonage - the reversal of normal flow in a system caused by a vacuum or partial vacuum within the water supply piping. 


    Back pressure - the reversal of normal flow in a system due to pressure higher than the supply pressure.
